Sebastian Bäverstam, piano
Violin Sonata in E minor No. 21, K. 304 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Violin Sonata in D major Op. 12, No. 1 by Ludwig Van Beethoven
Scholes Street Studio is pleased to partner with Groupmuse to present an evening of chamber music on Sunday, December 21.
A Groupmuse event – “equal parts recital and party,” according to a recent Wall Street Journal article – connects classical musicians with local audiences in living rooms, on rooftops, and just about anywhere a small crowd of music lovers can gather.
It’s chamber music as it was meant to be heard -- in intimate, convivial settings, where the formalities of the concert hall don’t apply.
Please join us for the concert on December 21, when pianist Sebastian Bäverstam and violinist Emily Daggett Smith will play a program of sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven.
Admission is free but contributions for the performers will be gratefully accepted.

Mente Clara
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Mente Clara was born out of a love for the music of Hermeto Pascoal and other Brazilian masters. They combine soaring melody with sophisticated harmony and the danceable rhythms of Northeastern Brazil. The band has developed a reputation for exciting live shows and brings that same energy to their debut record, Wanderlust, which was released on May 4, 2014.
This is music for both the mind and the soul. As Hermeto says “Tudo é som.”
Opening set
Brian Donohoe Quintet
Brian Donohoe is an independent musician in New York. He leads Progger, has toured and recorded extensively with the Austin indie-rock band Nelo, and was a founding member of the Grammy award winning modern jazz group Snarky Puppy, to whom he contributed many performances and compositions. He recently recorded alto saxophone, flute, and clarinet on Bill Laurance's new album Flint, as well as tenor saxophone on Okkervil River's newest album, the Silver Gymnasium. Progger's latest album, Populace, was released in May 2014. His quintet will perform a mix of Brian's originals, culled from the Progger book, as well as a few choice, fusion standards.
